Steven Choco is without doubt one of the most talented birding guides in southern Belize.  Now twenty-three Steven has been associated with The Lodge at Big Falls for the past five years.  He was born and bred in Big Falls village and grew up exploring the river banks and forest with his grandfather, family and friends while acquiring a deep knowledge of the widlife and birds and folklore which he is now able to share with guests in his chosen career as a licensed tour guide.  Having acquired his license Steven has continued to work hard to learn ever more about bird beahviour and bird calls so that he now is able to identify a large proportion of the species seen in Toledo district by their voice alone.

Steven is also called upon by visiting researchers and has spent some weeks mist netting and banding species working alongside Andy Johnson of the University of New Mexico.
